B38 Drain plug – early type with small .445in A/F hex head.

Our friend Dennis Frost has been working on his latest Velocette parts project and has had a batch of these 'small head' drain plugs made. Have a read below for a bit more information about these and how to order them

Before the war this ubiquitous Veloce component – fitted to crankcases and gearboxes – was produced with a smaller head which fits a 3/16" Whit / 1/4" BSF spanner. For the purists they were matched to a red fibre rather than a soft aluminium washer. The thread form is the same for both early and later types – 1/8" BSP x 28TPI

They have been turned from brass, bright zinc plated and are available at £3.75 each. Postage will be £1.25 – either for a single drain plug or a batch, so it makes sense to buy a few. Please use the following contact details for Dennis :-

Hello all, just a quick update to let you know about mudguards. I have found a great manufacturer in the UK of mudguards and have placed orders for the standard Venom/MSS(Late)/Viper front and rear mudguards in steel and in polished stainless. I have also placed an order for the narrow Thruxton/Clubman front and rear guards in steel and polished stainless steel. They will take a while to be made but as soon as they are available I will put them on my website. Regarding mudguards, I have used all original Veloce Ltd factory mudguards as the patterns, so they are the correct profile, shape and size which was very important to me because there is nothing worse than trying to make a bad item fit, so hopefully things will be just right with these new mudguards. We all know that Veloce had batches made in smaller numbers than other bigger companies, so there were slight differences between batches but the ones I have used are from my own bikes that I know are originals. So at least we all have a fighting chance when building/restoring our Velos. I will be fitting all the various new ones to my own bikes as I get them, to make sure the fit is spot on before I offer them for sale.
